Reconstruction of a hotel LIJO

location_Gargždai
size_1500 m2
year_2007-2008
status_built
office_AKETURI ARCHITEKTAI, DO ARCHITECTS (ex. andrė baldi architektūra ir urbanistika)
team_Andrė Baldišiūtė, Milda Rekevičienė, Lukas Rekevičius, Saulius Bulavas, in cooperation with Rolandas Palekas

The reconstructed building is in Gargždai, a part of the town which resembles a low-density housing area. To respond to the scale of surrounding buildings, a long and monotonous roof was cut into three parts by inserting two wooden terraces. In this way, the silouet fluently integrates into the panoramas of a small town.
Finishing materials of facades and roofs – wood covered with dark paint – gives a background for a play of birght-coloured window framing. The building appears dynamic in a variety of scales, still appearing as a unified volume.
