While creating a residential area in Mazūriškės we aimed to rethink the stereotype of a suburban house in Klaipėda while creating an original, contemporary and unified quarter of housing. A compact scale dictated a city-like character of buildings and spaces.
The project is a balance of life in a community and individual spaces. Much attention is given for shared spaces, incorporating the near-by water side as well as developing an opportunity for individual and private family areas.
The quarter consists of four zones of different units: different sizes and architectural styles. This was a way to avoid monotonous impressions and create a variety of possibilities for different needs of a resident. While being different, houses create a unified overall image of the quarter.
The interiors are firstly practical. One of the main aims was to create logical layouts of quite compact units. Although the houses are comparatively small, they contain all the needed functions and areas. The plans are created to fit standard furniture with every specific thing having it‘s own place already in the planning process. Nonetheless, the spaces are rarely static.
The project is in the process of being built.
